Acting
A fun and energetically paced class geared for both the recreational and professional student alike. This class will touch on all aspects of acting: stage, television, film and commercials. Find out what the professionals go through from first audition to final performance. Students will let their imaginations run wild as they create and use the building blocks of acting to explore character, story, subtext, relationship and environment. Working on-camera, with carefully selected scripts and monologues or by using improvisation techniques, each class will bring a new and exciting approach to acting, culminating in performance opportunities.

African Modern Fusion
The African-Modern Fusion class is a blend of different non-traditional African movements from various areas and styles of the African culture, along with technique from Modern Dance. The Fusion of these styles allows a fluid and organic feel for the body. The Choreographic style is a pleasure for passionate dancers.
Classes are designed with a strong discipline system to strengthen the muscles of the body, develop the student's awareness of the importance of proper body alignment, stretching, and technique of movement. Students will
gain the knowledge and skills of staging, execution of choreography and engaging an audience.

Ballet
The foundation for all other forms of dance commonly practiced today, Ballet is a classical dance form dating back to the fifteenth century that involves formal technique including arm, leg, and foot positions to make lines with the body. Balance and correct body posture are the basis for turning, lifting and jumping. Instruction in Ballet is an important first step for any new dancer.
In their Ballet classes at DDPAC, children are treated to a fanciful and creative introduction to dance, and older students are offered technique, proper body alignment and musicality. Most important is the nurturing of each student's unique qualities and personality.

Ballet Barre
By utilizing classical ballet barre, exercises focus on precise movements that help lengthen and strengthen the body as well as improve flexibility and posture . This class works on and off the barre and is accessible to both non-dancers and dancers. Ballet Barre will help develop long lean thighs, toned arms a strong core, greater range of motion in joints and muscles, and a lifted seat. All levels are welcome!!!

Ballet Fusion
Ballet Fusion is a combination of many different dance styles with a strong ballet foundation. This class blends ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, funk, and world styles such as Bollywood. A typical class consists of a solid warm up with stretching, ballet barre, centre work, and a full dance routine at the end of class which changes in dance styles from week to week. Ballet Fusion introduces the dancer to many different forms of dance in one class.

Bollywood
Bollywood is the commercial name for modern Indian dancing. It's a combination of classical Indian dance, folk dancing such as Bhangra, and sometimes, a Latin or Arabic influence. The classes are fusion mixed with culture and muscle awareness. It is taught how to isolate each muscle in order to get that perfect move.

Broadway Jazz
Broadway Jazz is a class that focuses more on different styles of theatrical dance. It involves learning combinations to music from Broadway Musicals in which there is a specific story that is being expressed in the dance. All musicals have a different story, therefore in Broadway dance, you are always acting within the dance itself. This class is fun and exciting and students will be learning many different styles since the world of theatre dance is so versatile in styles. Some styles include: Luigi, Fosse, traditional, and comedy/character dance.

Contemporary Ballet for Adults
Contemporary Ballet is a hybrid of ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern dance styles. It is a ballet-based technique that allows a greater range of movement than the strict body lines and foot work in traditional schools of ballet. Contemporary Ballet exposes dancers to a wide range of techniques that fosters versatility. This class focuses on centering, strengthening the body, increasing flexibility, improving balance, proper placement, body alignment, fluidity and emotion. The dancer learns to let the music and their own passion guide the movement. The class consists of a warm up with stretching, ballet barre, centre work, and a full dance routine at the end of the class which is all set to contemporary music. The class will let you express yourself through dance and is a benefit to all levels of dancers.

Contemporary
The objective of the class is to create a challenging environment where the students feel comfortable taking risks and pushing themselves past their limits. Fusing elements of release technique, ballet, theatrical dance, yoga and jazz, the students enjoy fun, full-bodied movement. They work on flexibility, strength, musicality and dance ability so that solid technique and artistic invention coexist in active interplay.

Contemporary Intensive 3
Intensive Contemporary is for advanced dancers who have technical training.
This is for students who want to improve in contemporary style so having a
technical base is important. Improv will be done constantly to keep students
actively thinking (the brain is a muscle too!).

Dunham
Dunham Technique is the weaving together of Ballet and Modern with African and Caribbean movement. This great technique was created by living legend Katherine Dunham. Students are introduced to the Dunham Bar, followed by a series of center floor isolations, then progressions are introduced which include traditional Haitian, Brazilian, Cuban and African movements. The last part of the class introduces a combination. Dunham Technique makes an all around stronger dancer in all disciplines.

Flamenco
Flamenco classes are fun, passionate classes that explore the Technique and Theory of Flamenco as appropriate for each age group. Arm, hand and body movements to various Flamenco rhythms as well as Castinets are combined into Choreography as students progress. Older Students in Wednesday's 6:15pm Flamenco 3 should have at least 2 years prior experience in Flamenco class.

Ganking
Ganking is a fusion of hip hop and sharp contemporary. It's a feminine style
but male dancers are encouraged to attend. Ganking is all about confidence and
fusing styles together. Hair is required to be down, tight fitted clothing
is a must, and ladies will be working in heels sometimes so please bring
them to every class. (By heels we do not mean character dance heels, we mean
heels you go out and party in. Boots are also alright especially since they
have more ankle support) This class is all about learning to be confident in
a room full of people, working hard, and having fun!!

Hip-Hop
In Hip Hop, movements are bouncy, fast, and funky. It is foot oriented, but uses body isolations, popping, and break dancing. Hip Hop is highly energetic and allows the dancer to perform with freedom of movement. This dance is ideal for developing improvisational skills as well as musical interpretation.

I.B. Dancing
Adults, bring your energy to the dance floor in this fun and easy to follow dance class. Broadway, Disco, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk-- you just never know what to expect! All levels are welcome.

Jazz
There are many forms of jazz dance; lyrical jazz, modern jazz, and street jazz. We will be focusing a little bit on all of these. Lyrical is slower and uses more extension in the moves, modern uses more contractions and off-center shapes, and street jazz (also called L.A. Jazz) involves more shoulder shrugs, hip isolations, and neck rolls emphasizing walking and moving on beat.

Leaps and Turns
This is specifically a technique class that focuses on jumping and turning, two technical aspects of dance that are used in almost all forms of dance and choreography. This class will teach students how to properly prepare for a jump safely to
prevent injury to the body and also how to turn properly on the body's center access to prevent from falling over or feeling unstable. The abilty to jump and turn correctly is very crucial to a dancer's technical progress.

Lyrical/Jazz
Class will alternate fast paced jazz dance and lyrical style routines. Designed to enhance students' technique and performance using both styles of dance.

Modern
This class incorporates a combination of different styles of modern dance. Modern dance itself was first created as a rebellion against ballet and later became a fusion of new expressive ways of moving incorporating technical dance forms. This modern class incorporates technique with a more athletic style of movement including fall and release, moving the body off its center, and learning how to use the floor and space in many differnet ways. This class allow for more exploration of movement, and more freedom to dance outside the specific form of traditional ballet. Students will learn combinations as well as use their own creativity to improvise freely to music.

Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre offers training in singing, dance choreography, stage techniques and drama. This class increases creative imagination, communication and self confidence: all while expressing ourselves in a nurturing environment.

Pop Theatre
*Pop Theater* is a fresh approach for children who may be new to the theater world. A mix of new and old pop musicals and movies will be introduced through song and dance. This class is perfect for the High School Musical and Hairspray fanatics. Pop theater runs much like a jazz class with a warm- up to enhance strength and flexibility, across the floor for individual attention and a chance to perform small dance combinations. Finally, a song/dance will be constructed with students performing bits from Broadway shows and films. Pop Theater is a great way to associate music with movement and perform small productions. It builds imagination, teamwork, confidence, respect, and dedication in a positive environment, allowing kids of all personalities to thrive.

Stretch and Strengthening
Stretch and Strengthening is a class based on improving your flexibility along with putting strength behind it. Most of it is partner work using different stretches and resistances to target various areas of the body. You can only stretch so far by yourself, which is why doing this in partners is so beneficial. It pushes you past your comfort zone and tests your dedication to your craft. It is meant for students 13 and older because of the maturity level required. You must attend all of your required ballet classes during the week in order to take this class. It will not have a recital piece in the show at the end of the year; this class is for your benefit as a dancer.

Tap
Taps on the bottom of the shoes allow the dancer to make sounds. A unique vocabulary is used in tap, and each step allows the dancer to create different syncopated rhythms. A very energetic style of dance which develops foot control and balance to a high level.
