LeNell Campbell
African
Born in San Jose, LeNell was raised in Stockton, California. Never entering a Dance Studio until the age of sixteen, LeNell studied dance videos and formed dance teams in local YMCAs and after school projects from Elementary all the way to College. LeNell joined popular dance group Sick Wit It and then opened his own dance company/studio, The Ordered Steps Dance Company. From 2003 to 2008, LeNell produced, wrote and directed 7 dance productions: It's Showtime, The Art & Spirit of Dance, Dance Explosion I &II, Rhythm In Blue, Out The Box, and Hollywood Superstar. With the deepest love for the drum, African movement and Modern dance, LeNell decided to fuse them and form AfricanModern Fusion. In 2007 LeNell formed a new Company "LocLion" and with it traveled the country teaching, performing and choreographing.
LeNell has performed in onstage productions Oaklahoma, One Last Time and Bye Bye Birdie. Opened up for Natalie Cole and Tyler Perry's Tamala Mann, even choreographed for The Wiz and a number in Saber The Movie. LeNell has toured his own show "Breaking the Silence", a production of Poetry and Motion. Hel also gives back to such causes as AIDSwalk LA, Kaiser Permanente and Children's Shelters. For LeNell, Dance has always been a Spiritual Expression, (he calls it an "Exhalted Lyric") and plans to dance his entire lifetime.
